Investing.com -- Britain’s media regulator Ofcom said Wednesday it remains concerned about X’s handling of illegal hate and terror content and is assessing whether the Elon Musk-owned platform violated online safety laws, even as response times have gotten better.

X’s first quarterly report to Ofcom showed the platform met commitments to review suspected illegal hate and terror content within agreed timeframes.

Response times improved compared with evidence examined earlier this year.

The regulator said it has "ongoing concerns" about how effective X’s efforts to remove illegal hate and terror content are and has received mixed reports about the company’s engagement with third-party experts.

Ofcom also said that SpaceXAI, formerly xAI, introduced additional restrictions to its standalone Grok AI chatbot service.

The measures prevent UK-based users from viewing, generating or sharing pornographic content and bar companion chatbots such as "Ani" from engaging in sexually explicit conversations.

Ofcom opened its investigation in January after reports that Grok was being used to create and share sexualized images that could amount to illegal content.

The regulator said it would now determine whether X has complied with its legal duties to protect people in Britain from illegal content.
