Investing.com - Wall Street spent Tuesday digesting a mixed bank-earnings batch: Goldman Sachs beat big (EPS $17.01 vs. ~$13 consensus, stock +4% premarket), while JPMorgan’s otherwise-solid quarter ($15.3B net income, +6% YoY) slipped on a $5.57 EPS miss against ~$5.90 expected. Citigroup and Wells Fargo sold off too.

The pick: HF Sinclair (NYSE:DINO)

HF Sinclair is Energy Elite’s top current performer, up another 13.78% just this month and the biggest single driver of the Strategy’s 2026 return. Our AI models have kept it on the active list through a run of fundamental developments that have reinforced rather than undercut the original call.

What moved since the pick

The first major validation came July 28, when HF Sinclair reported Q2 2026 results. Adjusted EPS came in at $5.31 against a roughly $4.49 consensus - an 18%+ beat - on revenue of $10.39 billion, up 53% year-over-year and comfortably ahead of the ~$8.68 billion the Street expected, according to the company’s earnings release.

Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to $1.48 billion from $665 million, with the renewables segment swinging to a $123 million profit from a $2 million loss a year earlier, helped by higher RIN prices and tax-credit benefits - alongside strength in refining ($1.02 billion EBITDA) and lubricants ($207 million).

The board also raised the quarterly dividend 5% to $0.525/share.

In August, HF Sinclair sanctioned the Western Gateway Pipeline, a $5 billion joint venture with Phillips 66 and Kinder Morgan linking Gulf Coast and St. Louis supply to Arizona and California. HF Sinclair is taking a 15% stake for roughly $750 million in cash, with first volumes targeted for 2029.

One item worth flagging for transparency: HF Sinclair has been led since February by Franklin Myers, the board chair who stepped in as temporary CEO after former CEO Tim Go took a voluntary leave amid an internal review of the company’s disclosure processes; no permanent successor has been named yet. It hasn’t slowed the stock, but it’s a governance thread worth watching.
