Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Telecoms and IT sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.90%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Enerflex Ltd. (TSX:EFX), which rose 14.16% or 4.85 points to trade at 39.11 at the close. Meanwhile, TerraVest Industries Inc (TSX:TVK) added 6.16% or 6.79 points to end at 117.08 and CES Energy Solutions Corp (TSX:CEU) was up 5.08% or 0.97 points to 20.06 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX:WDO), which fell 9.01% or 3.11 points to trade at 31.40 at the close. Hammond Power Solutions Inc Class A (TSX:HPSa) declined 7.96% or 24.54 points to end at 283.57 and Americas Gold and Silver Corporation (TSX:USA) was down 7.72% or 0.48 points to 5.74.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 554 to 426 and 50 ended unchanged.

Shares in Enerflex Ltd. (TSX:EFX) rose to all time highs; rising 14.16% or 4.85 to 39.11.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.47% to 11.69.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 4.42 to $4,181.72 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.80% or 0.75 to hit $94.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.78 to trade at $106.47 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.08% to 0.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.00.
