Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 3.07%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were VK Company Ltd (MCX:VKCO), which rose 7.70% or 9.60 points to trade at 134.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT) added 6.21% or 101.50 points to end at 1,736.50 and AK ALROSA PJSC (MCX:ALRS) was up 5.13% or 1.00 points to 20.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NOVATEK PJSC (MCX:NVTK), which fell 3.52% or 39.00 points to trade at 1,069.00 at the close. Novolipetsk Steel (MCX:NLMK) declined 2.52% or 1.94 points to end at 75.08 and Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was down 2.47% or 1.04 points to 41.02.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 139 to 103 and 13 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 3.74% to 31.09.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 5.35 to $4,195.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.43% or 1.31 to hit $93.16 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $105.99 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 83.98, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 93.70.
