Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares higher while losses in the Technology, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.38%, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.06%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.44%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), which rose 2.71% or 1.13 points to trade at 42.78 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) added 2.09% or 4.79 points to end at 233.92 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) was up 1.98% or 1.74 points to 89.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO), which fell 2.59% or 3.07 points to trade at 115.32 at the close. NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) declined 1.29% or 2.96 points to end at 226.32 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) was down 1.10% or 2.88 points to 259.55.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FICO) which rose 10.85% to 740.00, Lamb Weston Holdings Inc (NYSE:LW) which was up 4.83% to settle at 50.18 and Medtronic PLC (NYSE:MDT) which gained 3.83% to close at 91.87.

The worst performers were Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) which was down 6.00% to 147.28 in late trade, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which lost 5.04% to settle at 213.67 and Akamai Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:AKAM) which was down 4.96% to 101.64 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Mobile-health Network Solutions (NASDAQ:MNDR) which rose 257.65% to 3.04, Linkers Industries Ltd (NASDAQ:LNKS) which was up 138.37% to settle at 2.27 and J-Star Holding Co Ltd (NASDAQ:YMAT) which gained 127.34% to close at 2.91.

The worst performers were DarkIris Inc (NASDAQ:DKI) which was down 58.15% to 0.14 in late trade, Able View Global Inc (NASDAQ:ABLV) which lost 44.35% to settle at 1.33 and Vivakor Inc (NASDAQ:VIVK) which was down 42.89% to 2.17 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1434 to 1288 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2113 fell and 1325 advanced, while 189 ended unchanged.

Shares in DarkIris Inc (NASDAQ:DKI) fell to all time lows; falling 58.15% or 0.20 to 0.14.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 2.49% to 15.21.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 4.87 to $4,195.47 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.61% or 0.57 to hit $93.17 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.64 to trade at $106.01 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.12, while USD/JPY rose 0.20% to 158.64.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 102.38.
