中国驻菲律宾大使景泉表示，如果北京在该地区动用武力，中国“轻松取胜”，但选择和平；这一表态遭马尼拉强烈批评，并被指为“隐晦威胁”。在南海有争议的黄岩岛局势升温之际，北京近几个月多次驱离菲律宾飞机，最近一次约在两周前，并指责马尼拉侵犯中国空域。
The Chinese ambassador to the Philippines says Beijing could “easily win” should it use force in the region but instead chooses peace, remarks that have drawn sharp criticism from Manila and calls for diplomatic restraint.
The war of words came as tension over the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea rises, with Beijing repeatedly driving away Philippine aircraft over the shoal in recent months, most recently about two weeks ago, while accusing Manila of violating Chinese airspace.
Ambassador Jing Quan also pushed back against China being labelled a “troublemaker” when speaking to the media on the sidelines of a conference on the South China Sea in Quezon City in the Philippines.
