‘Comrade Raul’: Beijing defends Cuba’s ex-leader over Florida murder warrant
中国谴责美国佛罗里达州针对古巴前总统劳尔·卡斯特罗签发的逮捕令，该令涉及1996年两架民用飞机被击落事件。外交部发言人毛宁称他为“劳尔同志”，反对美国滥用司法措施向古巴施压，并呼吁美国立即停止对古巴的封锁及其他胁迫和施压。
China on Wednesday condemned an arrest warrant issued in the US state of Florida for former Cuban president Raul Castro over the 1996 downing of two civilian planes, accusing the United States of using the courts to pressure Havana.
Foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning was asked about the warrant by the state-run Global Times at a regular briefing in Beijing. She referred to the 95-year-old as “comrade Raul Castro”, a “venerated” leader held in high international esteem.
Mao said China opposed the “abuse of judicial measures to pressure Cuba” and called on the US to “immediately stop its blockade and any other form of coercion and pressure against Cuba”.
