Huang Qifan, China’s political tumbler, falls after a decade of close corruption calls
黄奇帆在中国政坛历经十年与腐败案近距离接触后最终倒下，结束了“不倒翁”式的政治生涯。他曾于2009年至2016年担任这座大城市市长，先后在六任市委书记手下任职；其中薄熙来、孙政才因腐败入狱，而黄奇帆此前一直留任。
Throughout that time, including his seven years as the megacity’s mayor from 2009 to 2016, Huang was seen as a “tumbler” in Chinese politics – a weighted doll that wobbles but never falls over.
The nickname was well-deserved – he served under six municipal Communist Party secretaries, watching two of them – Bo Xilai and Sun Zhengcai – jailed for corruption.
Bo and Sun were both members of the Politburo, the pinnacle of the party’s power, and their downfalls were two of the biggest political earthquakes the country has seen in recent decades. Yet Huang survived.
